my newest obsession...

Vintage sheet quilts!! I can just picture them in my girls room...I first saw them here and have been stalking shopping thrift stores since. They are hard to find, but a thrill when I do! (Yes I know I'm lame:)

Deal!

Phew its been while!
Have you ever gotten such a great deal on something that you almost feel guilty for taking it out of the store? The thrift store Gods are smiling on me today! I spotted a perfect condition red radio flyer tricycle that was not marked. I told myself I would not go over $30. I lugged the beauty up to the checkout and hoped for the best, the young kid asked the manager to come over. I'm such a dork my heart was literally pounding! She said, oh its a flyer. Damn I thought. She knows its a gem. She stalled and I braced for 49.99....then she said. Well I think its gotta be a $6.98 item. Wh-what? Um, ok! SOLD! I've seen them for well over $40 in craigslist.  See why I felt a little bad? Its going to be SO awesome for photoshoots...I can't wait!

The big laundry room reveal!

I know you are all on the edge of your seat!!! Sorry it took me so long. I was trying to wait until I was all caught up on laundry, but if you know me at all I may or may not have hauled 7 baskets of laundry out of there to take these pictures. To refresh your memory of my not so attractive laundry room/main bath...

And now!

It's hard to get a good picture of the whole effect...and I still need to redo the ribbon on the baskets I stole from the girls former nursery!  The "folding table" is a piece of scrap wood the guy at Lowes sold me for $1.  It pays to ask!  I painted it the same color as the cabinets and it serves it's function, but it bothers me that the dryer sits about an inch higher than the washer because of the leveling feet, so I had to put a towel under the washer side to try to level them. Not the seamless finished product I was looking for so if anyone has any brilliant ideas on this, lemme know!

I used the same hardware just took off the weird decorative plate off from under them and spray painted them the same color as the towel rod and knobs on the vanity so they'd all match. Cheap!

New light fixture, just the commercial grade stuff from Home Depot, but I like it.

I think the color offsets the sink and granite better.  Someday I think the brass faucet needs to go, but what do you do about the drain thingy in the sink that is brass too??? Tricky.

...some light reading for the three year olds in my life.

Organized shelves! The right side is all my tools, cleaning and small paint supplies, the middle section is my laundry chute.

and the left side is for laundry supplies, with room to grow!

Check this out...

It appears the original washer and dryer in this house were Whirlpools too! It was meant to be:)  So I hope you like my "new" laundry/main bath! I wish I could say I'm a laundry machine now but this is a makeover not a miracle people!  I do love my new washer and dryer though, worth every penny!

Laundry Room Redo

Last week I got and incredible deal on a new washer and dryer thanks to a super cool blog I love to read. So awesome!

Of course it sparked a little project.  Here's a couple before pictures...and a few little hints because I never can remember to take before pictures before starting!

Ugh this thing was hideous!

After pictures coming soon...I have a few finishing touches to add this week.
